About

Roy and Phyllis Baker

Roy and Phyllis Baker started Appalachian Mountain Cabins in 2001, after Roy retired from the Eastman Company in Kingsport, Tennessee where he had worked for 30 years. They helped construct each cabin personally, beginning rentals starting in the fall of 2001. In the years that followed, they continued developing their secluded mountain property into a scenic hillside retreat, eventually adding two more brand new, hand- built structures completing their offering to the four unique cabins now available. Roy and Phyllis still oversee the day to day operations of the rental cabins with the help of their daughter, Ramona Taylor. Roy Baker is a deacon at Thomas Village Baptist Church in Duffield and a member of the Gideon’s International. Roy Baker has served in the following capacities to increase awareness of the beautiful Southwest Virginia Mountains and to promote tourism to this scenic area.
